Description
A concert mute has to perform two very different roles. When it is not being used, it needs to remain secure and silent on the instrument. When the music calls for 'con sordino', it must be quick to place, dependable, and musically effective.
Peter Bahng of CECILIA developed Sordino around those practical demands. Its compact form is designed to help prevent unwanted vibration and rattle while parked behind the bridge, yet remain immediately available to the player. On the bridge, its geometry is designed to produce a refined tone while maintaining a responsive, musical feel.
The material and unique shape of Sordino are developed around that true purpose: to create a refined shift in color while preserving a responsive, musical connection.
