Review of Pirastro Passione Cello String, A

New Malden, United Kingdom

Keen Amateur

Like gut but without most of the drawbacks

Pros: The first Passione A finally broke after around a year and I liked it so much I have replaced it with the same. Responsive, warm tone reminiscent of gut but fits fine tuners and is stable in pitch. My cello is battered and patched but old (C18) and the low tension string suits it very well.

Cons: Not cheap, but you get what you pay for and it has proved much more durable than gut as well.
