A strong 'G' string.

Pros: Very full sound. Generally easy to play. Good colours to the sound.

Cons: Have to be very careful when bowing to avoid a rather coarse sound on the open string, even after an extended break-in period. This is a trade-off for the bright sound on the stopped notes I guess.
