* All strings are ball end, unless otherwise specified.
Synthetic set, Medium Tension. This standard set of Evah Pirazzi Gold Viola strings feature modern synthetic multifilament fibre cores with a steel core A.
Great dynamic range allows skilled players to explore confidently both the finest nuances of quiet passages and create powerful sonorities when playing close to the finger-board or using a strong bow arm. Instant response throughout the complete dynamic range. Very short play-in time, even shorter than Evah Pirazzi and Obligato
The power of Evah Pirazzi with additional warmth and depth.
Synthetic set with Rope/Tungsten 'C' This set provides the option to switch out for a tungsten wound, steel rope core C string.
* New * Steel core set with Rope/Tungsten 'C' Pirastro offers a new update for 2022 after being informed by professional players. The result is a complete steel core set which provides more volume & a sonic palette fit for a more 'soloistic' sound.
Strings available in one size only and recommended for violas with a minimum vibrating string length of 36cm or 15.5" body length. Customers have had no issues fitting these on violas up to 16.5".

Pros: Lovely large sound, speak readily even in high positions and pianissimo. Mainly settle in quickly, although the D took about a week longer than the G & C. I even like the A which is unusual, and has tempted me away from the Larsen A. I just enjoy playing on these strings - very pleased with them.
Cons: None
Other: I loved the standard Evah Pirazzi sound but the tension was just too much for my viola - high positions or PP on the C string and they were reluctant to speak. Obligatos are good but lack some punch in my opinion. The EP Gold are an excellent blend of the two for my technique and my instrument.

Pros: The violist in our quartet uses these so I thought I would try them on my William Castle viola. They give a good strong tone. The sound is even. The C string is particularly good - not at all floppy as some C strings can be. The strings settled in quickly too in fact I performed in a concert only 10 days after putting them on (voice viola and piano). A bit more expensive than some other strings but VERY good value. Will stick with these next time I change strings. Highly recommended.
Cons: There is nothing I don't like about these strings.

Pros: Superb strings. Totally different to standard Evah Pirazzi. Clarity and depth of sound with good response and power across the instrument. Works as a set without a different brand/tension A. A step up from Obligato.
Cons: Price.
Other: Unable to comment on durability yet.

Pros: Great sound
Cons: It's not so easy to vary the sound, or to play softly (having previously played on Obligato). As I'm getting used to them I'm finding it less of an issue, but not sure if I'm learning how to manage the strings, or if I'm getting used to a less varied sound.

Pros: Ahhhh! These strings are just GORGEOUS! They set really quickly and break out of the 'tinny' stage fast too. They resonate really nicely on my 2012 viola.
Cons: The strings are great...but the lush sound doesn't last very long....maybe a month or so.

Pros: Good warm G and C strings. Nice tone. Good loud initial sound.
Cons: A string was thin so less comfortable and poor quality, seemed like it was too short (too high tension?) for my 16' viola and didn't last long. More expensive set but not much better than the normal version.

Pros: The Evah Pirazzi gold speak easily, with a clear clean tone. I'm very happy with my choice.
Cons: Only a small thing, but I was surprised at how thin the A string is - more like an old fashioned violin E. However the sound and resonance seem fine.
Other: Despatch and delivery were very prompt.

Pros: Love these - best C string I have ever found for my instrument (speaks easily and a really mellow sound) and the others are good too.
Cons: Took a while to get them to stay in tune and G string was rather bright for a bit but has settled down now
