Pros: They were a nice change from Dominants when I first installed them, with a brighter, more focused tone. Good for solo work and leading string quartets, with an incisive quality and a good dynamic range.
Cons: The tension was quite high, and they retained a metallic sound for longer than the Dominants. The E string squeaked ALOT on my 1850 violin, and the others didn't have quite as full a tone as Dominants once they'd settled. They lost some vibrancy only about a month and a bit after installation as well, and after taking them off and using Dominants again the tone of my violin seemed to have tightened up a little, losing some richness, which was disappointing. The initial favourable incisiveness soon became a little harsh and didn't blend well with an ensemble, making them not so appropriate for a 2nd violinist in a quartet.

Pros: great value string, stay in tune and settle v quickly bright and clear tone very fast response under bow.
Cons: I found the open strings were a little zingy for a week or so, then they settle,
Other: I tend to swap the E for a golden spiral solo or a hill E .

Pros: Just what I've been looking for ; for a Maggini copy , by Vuilliam Brussels 1835. it needed lots more on the E string. to balance the strong bass. e
Cons: I'm surprised how stark the G and D strings sound now. I'm used to softer strings . they are not staying in tune , I expect they will settle down .
Other: Thanks for good service, quick delivery to the west of Ireland.
