Pros: Jargar are well known for their metal strings so I was curious to try these new superior strings on a large viola with a string length of 380 mm. They settled very quickly. The Hector MacMillan viola already had a very mellow tone. These strings made it more so and darker. Articulation was fine and and with clear harmonics.
Cons: At first I found the tone and response disappointing with lack of bite. I had to resist the temptation to take them off. Difficult to say whether this was due to insufficient rosin. Suffice to say, after a week things improved markedly. Tone was still dark but response easier. All new strings behave differently as they settle. Some may also find the tonal palette monochromatic.
Other: I purchased these strings at a discount. Otherwise they would appear to be on the expensive side.
