Good for folk fiddle

Pros: I am a folk fiddler, and these are my favourite strings so far. I find they give quite a wide bowing area without producing any unpleasant noises. They are fairly bright but mellower than some steel cored strings I have tried. Good value at the price.
Cons: None
Other: Pete Cooper (fiddler, teacher and author of a number of books on different style of folk fiddling) uses these, which I guess counts for something!

Pros: They have a full even tone throughout the strings and at low and high registers. They stay in tune. The notes sound a lot clearer. I think because the diameter of the strings is small.
Cons: Not a lot!
Other: I play a Paul Bailly 1875 violin.

Pros: They have a nice warmth to the sound, don't take too long to stabilise.
Cons: Nothing to dislike about them
Other: These strings have been on the market for so many years, and never dissapoint, even with all the more modern synthetic strings. A winner for me.

3 good, 1 not so good
Pros: This is my first medium tension string set for years and I like them. They are easier to play and I like this slightly muted sound rather than the bright ‘in your face’ sound from the Warchals. Once settled in they are very stable. The A & E suit my needs at the moment sounding excellent while double stopping and being not too brilliant compared with the Warchal A & E strings. The G sounds all right too.
Cons: However, the D string settled down only after 30 hours of playing! It sounded as if there was something loose inside it when I first played it and it wouldn't pull consistently. I swapped it for an old Warchel D to see if my bowing was at fault and that string played well. When I refitted the Jagar D it pulled consistenly and sounded better!! I have never experienced this before. I looked at the D with a magnifying glass and I can see scratches along the winding that are not on the other strings. I suspect the winding is the problem. Jagar need to upgrade their quality control. 30 hours for a string to settle in is much too long.
Other: Now that they are all playing well they sound good. They are not expensive

Good deep tone suitable for a lot of folk music
Pros: I play a lot of folk music. I think they are good for that at the same time they have a rich deep tone on the lower strings.
Cons: I have a think tone gets a bit weaker on the E string that would be my only criticism.
Other: I do buy them regularly so I must be happy with them!

Two great, two terrible
Pros: The A and E strings sound really sweet and are a joy to play.
Cons: The G and D strings were unusable - very muffled sound with no high frequencies, dramatically different from the A and E. I assume they were faulty. Stringzone were great as always and replaced them. But it does suggest a problem with Jargar's quality control.

Pros: E string was quite nice. Resonant and bright, with a decent tone and not very metallic in sound at all.
Cons: The g and d strings were very disappointing. They were dull, lacked resonance and sadly this did not change after a couple of days of intensive playing. I was so put off by these strings that I actually went and bought Eva Pirazzi replacements the next day. As I needed my new strings to settle before a masterclass, I did not try the a so cannot make a fair comment. However, I think that the quality of the g and d string speaks volumes about what the A will probably sound like. The E string I felt was the strongest out of the whole set, however when placed next to a 3/4 full set of Evah's it doesn't stand up to the competition. During the masterclass I was actually advised up change the E string before the concert the next day. I was really disappointed with these strings- I don't like to give negative feedback, however, I was really excited by the reviews I had read and was convinced that they would be amazing! They were really a waste of money.
