pure quality at affordable prices; try them.
4 out of 4 found the following review helpful

Pros: The A cello Larsen string is a string which is quite responsive, which I think is a foremost consideration. It is also in tone a warm, honey-like rich tone, never strident; but instruments do vary, so players have to try one on which is always worth the investment.

Cons: It may change a bit within the first 4 months, but they don't give way to a unpleasant difference of sound, just slightly different, brighter on my cello.

Other: They are "classy" the Larsen strings are!

Good replacement for the non-solo version
2 out of 2 found the following review helpful

Pros: Stayed at pitch well, even when just put under tension Slightly softer, more gut like sound than the Larson A I had put on previously Excellent and consistent tone over the length of the string- nice harmonics The open A is less harsh than most metal stents I have tried on my cello A definate improvement on the non-soloist version

Cons: Seems to have a power closer to a gut string

Other: Matched the other Larsen strings (D,G,C) well

Larsen Soloist A - the best A string I have used
3 out of 4 found the following review helpful

Pros: This string is a real winner as a top string for most cellos - it has a fantastic tone, and stays in tune well, it also doesn't need much playing in.

Cons: There is nothing to say against this string.

Other: I have subsequently purchased a whole set of Larsen strings, Soloist for the A & D, (medium) and the new Magnacore (medium) for the G and C. The complete set is just lovely on my old English cello with lots of repaired cracks and woodworm, and well worth the cost to enjoy the sound.

Great Quality string!

Pros: The string produces a big, bright sound without losing sound quality. It settled very quickly and with minimal playing. As the name implies it is louder than standard Larsens, so the Soloist is a great pick if your playing requires a big sound output.

Cons: As with all strings (that I've tried out), it does lose a bit of its brilliance after playing in, but not enough to mean you should avoid purchasing this make of string.
