Description

The Performa shoulder rest has been designed to give the player a uniquely ergonomic playing experience, especially to those who prefer to play without a shoulder rest. It is designed to be completely customisable to the players needs and includes a selection of legs and pads as standard.

The shoulder rest features a wide surface area which is intended to distribute the weight across the players shoulder and collarbone. The three feet can be used in combination to create the perfect playing position, and on the lowest settings it can almost feel like there is no shoulder rest at all, with the rest sitting very close to the back of the instrument.

Research in the development stages found that pain in the neck, arm and shoulders associated with normal playing was alleviated.

Very comfortable shoulder rest

Pros: I have always played without a shoulder rest (40+ years of playing mainly Irish & Scottish traditional music) but thought I'd try this one, having read the reviews. Because the rest is almost infinitely adjustable (and the description states that it is good for those who aren't keen on shoulder rests) I find it incredibly comfortable and it holds the fiddle slightly more firmly and at a better angle for bowing in general and string-crossing in particular. My left hand feels much more free, tempting me to venture into higher positions for the more adventurous pieces! Overall. a great purchase!

Cons: Nothing I didn't like - it took a few hours for me to adjust my playing accordingly, but that was only to be expected as I had never used a shoulder rest before.

Other: At first sight a little expensive but having now got used to it I find it's worth every penny
