By Pirastro
Pirastro Eudoxa is probably the world's best known string and has been a staple of many players over the last 60 years. It is a traditional covered gut string.
Nowadays these strings appeal mainly to players who value the unique tonal properties and playing feel of a traditional gut cored string and are prepared to accept the need for more regular tuning and their sensitivity to changes in climatic conditions.
The sheep gut core of Eudoxa strings is manufactured, wound and polished in the traditional way, by hand. Well balanced warm tone with a great diversity of sound. Low string tension and a comfortable left hand feeling ideal for orchestra, chamber music and studio takes.

Superb Sound
Pros: The Pirastro Eudoxa strings are reminiscent of my student years, having a particularly refined and warm sound. The G string, which I decided to fit on my cello recently is answering to my musical demands, and is blending perfectly with my C Oliv string.
Cons: None
Professional
Warm and sonorous.
Pros: Warm and pliable and lots of reedy tone.
Cons: None
Other: I love this string. It pairs so well and blends with Eudoxa D. Both Eudoxa and Oliv A and C blend well. I would say that it isn't quite as clear as Oliv G, but I prefer the feel and blending of it.

A string for playing music
Pros: Beautifully smooth to play, lovely tone (if it suits your cello) and all the nuance and variation in colour of a gut core string. Don't know whether to put the many years it is before it breaks as a pro or a con!
Cons: Nothing, really, except the irritation of any gut string taking a time before it holds its pitch. But worth it for t he music it produces.

Worth a try.
Pros: Good bass sound, very rich. Blends well with most other strings but I have my cello set up with Eudoxa A,D and Oliv C.
Cons: Slow to respond, requires a good adjustment of bow technique but this is no way a bad thing, just a different way of playing. Usually stable tuning, temperature can play havoc sometimes.

Pros: Lovely forgiving strings with a beautiful rounded tone - after I first got a set of these strings nothing else really has come close.
Cons: Does take quite a while to settle to pitch after stringing it up and doesn't like temperature and humidity changes. Quite easy to break if you are heavy handed tuning it. Expensive!!

Pros: lovely tone matches the other Eudoxa gut strings
Cons: Very expensive for someone who is not a professional. A shere indulgence. Hope it lasts longer than the last D string which broke after barely 6 months.
Other: Eudoxa gut strings are a class of their own and have a lovely mellow tone.
