Obligato strings have a core made from a modern synthetic multifilament fibre. They sound warm and full, yet have a brilliant, rich overtone spectrum and focused tone. Excellent playability and response throughout the entire dynamic range . Great tone and volume combined with excellent tonal stability. Extremely resistant to variations in temperature and humidity
For those players looking for a perspiration resistant A a Chromesteel winding is available. This string has a brighter sound than the standard Aluminium A

Pros: It's warm sound, it complements the aged softness that my violin generates much more than any other string I have tried. It is long lasting and far better than any other string out there.
Cons: I preferred it when they used to be sold to be stored in tubes. They are more expensive than dominants

Pros: Have always liked this string on my violin but ...
Cons: The quality of this string has gone downhill. I have thrown away 2 new A strings purchased from the Stringzone in July because of unravelling/separating over the bridge. Spotted by my luthier who told me that he has noticed problems recently with Pirastro strings. Disappointing and costly.

Pros: the videos giving advice on a range of things including how to change a string, very useful
Cons: None
Other: Have just put the string on and waiting for it to settle down but I know it will sound great
