Pros: Very warm tone on G, D and A string. occasional bright pro sound on E string.
Cons: Every E string so far whistles with bow crosses from A string to greater or lesser degrees. This can make a perfect performance not so perfect.
Other: I would love feedback on the E string problem as I am very happy with the three lower strings and need this problem solving in a way which meens I don't have to use an alternative manufacturer for the E string.

Pros: These work beautifully on my modern instrument. I love the tone they produce with my violin, but they're also powerful and responsive. They're extremely practical too, they play in after only a couple of hours and stay in tune very well.
Cons: None for me, but personal tastes vary so really it's best to experiment with different strings and find what works best for you.
Other: You can be sure to get your strings quickly with The String Zone. I always received them the next day when I lived in England and I get them in 2-3 days here in the Republic of Ireland.

Pros: Obligatos work brilliantly with my violin giving a nice rich sound with good subtelties. I prefer these to Pirrazzi's which I find respond slower and start to sound dull quicker.
Cons: The A string often starts to unwind in about half the time the other strings start to wear.

Pros: attractive, warm tone
Cons: E string can be tricky to negotiate at first, with the occasional whistle.
Other: As a beginner a few years ago i bought a brand new violin and simply accepted that it would sound rather bright due to its lack of age. I have used several types of string in the past, such as Dominant and Tonica, and would practice at home with the mute on, simply to achieve a more appealing sound. Relying on the reviews of these Obligato strings, here and elsewhere, I decided to try them and the difference to the sound of my instrument is striking. The brashness has gone, replaced with a darker, gentler and more interesting sound. As a consequence, I blend better in the amateur orchestra I play in as well. I think for anyone with a new violin who finds the tone rather bright and thin, these Obligato strings are definitely worth a try.

Pros: Really warm sound, even across the whole range, nice and 'soft' to play on. Settled in well, although it took a couple of weeks to get a really deep tone. Definitely an improvement on my previous strings and blend well in an orchestral environment.
Cons: The gold-plated E-string whistles very easily. It can be avoided by bowing at a slightly different angle but it is a bit of a hazard in triple or quadruple stops involved open E. That said, I'm still using!
Other: Really prompt service, clear identifying information and good value.

Pros: The sound of these strings was beautiful, and really enriched the tone on my 1776 English violin. The G and D had wonderful depth, and I appreciated the brightness of the gold E. The tone was very even on all strings and the sound was good on recordings of solo and chamber music, and they lasted a very long time while maintaining good sound quality.
Cons: None as such, though sometimes I had to work them hard to project in larger spaces.
Other: Beautiful strings.

Pros: Mellow, rich tone, especially suitable for my slightly overly-bright sounding violin. These strings settle more quickly than the covered gut ones and feel finer than Dominant.
Cons: no cons..except all Pirastro strings are a bit pricey!

Pros: Their Presentation and look of Quality

Other: I have been playing the Violin now for two years, so I would still classify myself as a beginner, and in these two years I have replaced my strings at least four times because I was not happy with the tones, then I discovered The Stringzone and Obligato, and now I am Over The Moon !! I honestly love my new strings because of their lovely warm tones and rich loud sound.

Pros: Amazing strings - the e string has always been a bit weak and a bit reedy on my violin compared to the others but now there is far more balance with these lovely strings (tried evah pirazzi and infeld vision solo etc.)
Cons: Because they came loose there was some confusion as to what was what and even with the advice of a seasoned professional we managed to break the d string - a note as to which is what would be very nice.
