A light oil designed to prolong the life of strings. Not a cleaner. Apply a little bit of string oil to the strings at the fingerboard area. (Not the bowing area.)

Pros: A simple, effective product – does the job…..
Cons: Very expensive for what it actually is though….. Characteristically minimal packaging from the manufacturers PIRASTRO - however, perhaps a little more thought into the design of the bottle and the actual application and purpose of this product would have been nice - a fitted inner stopper cap with an in-built dropper for example - for easier application onto the paper towel or whatever material you are using to apply it to the strings. Given the active ingredient is Ethanol and this is a “use a teeny weeny bit, then sits around yonks/lasts ages” type of thing this would help prevent some of the evaporation too!
Other: A liquid product considerately well packaged for delivery by Stringzone. Tip -use plenty of kitchen paper or whatever to protect your instrument and keep the bottle well away from it – I knocked mine over putting the lid back on but thankfully spilled away from my Viola (See! A stopper dropper would have been nice!)

Pros: Cleans strings very well. Odourless, so better than meths. You only need a very little so the small bottle should last me a fair time.
Cons: Only the general warning not to let the liquid get on to the fingerboard or body of the instrument.
Other: I'm rating 5; hope that's high.
