Grade 8+

inadequate bow

Pros: With a decent bow it has good tone and bass (although an immediate string-upgrade would be a good idea) and is ideal for a beginner and excellent value.

Cons: It took a very long time for me to get the tuning stable (strings, or did I not play it enough?), and the bow is a disaster - initially a CF bow rather than the usual cheap wooden bow was a nice surprise, but it was so supple as to be flabby, which meant it was impossible to produce a good tone with it. I have since bought a Coda GX viola bow, which gives a huge improvement in tone, but the mystery is, would making it stiffer have incurred extra manufacturing cost?
