Spiral steel core. Chrome or Silver wound. Hi-tech, top grade, spiral steel core strings. Spirocore strings have a flexible spiral steel core. This core has greater elasticity than that of conventional strings, which means less inertia and a higher propensity to musical vibration.

Buy it ! You won't regret it.

Pros: There's a reason why serious cellists spend this amount of money on just one string (you can get a whole set of Jargars for just a few quid more!) and that is 'sound'.There just isn't anything else that can match the Spirocore tungsten for sound, as it can release hitherto unknown wonderful tones and qualities in your cello you didn't know it had. No playing in - sounds incredible from the moment it goes on. Fantastic tuning stability and it can take huge amounts of 'abuse' from even the most powerful player - no harshness or underlying scrape - just more fantstic, huge sound.Marvellously responsive and clear - no woollyness nor vaugeness on the bottom end.I cannot recommend this string highly enough.

Cons: Eyewateringly expensive, but worth it for the sound I've never been able to get anywhere else. These strings could become addictive !

Other: Stringzone are offering the best price around on Spirocore tungstens and their service is excellent and fast.

Worth the price for full & yet incisive sound
2 out of 2 found the following review helpful

Pros: Came up to pitch easily & then held pitch pretty well, and didn't sound at all raw from the off.

Cons: On the other hand, the old one (same sort) just snapped, not even on a stress point, in mid-gig with absolutely no warning.

Great depth and resonance
2 out of 2 found the following review helpful

Pros: This string has a depth and tonal resonance which I have yet to find in other C strings.

Cons: I think that over the last few years something may have changed in the production process of this string. They used to "play in" in a couple of days, but now they sound wiry for a few weeks before they settle down and produce their usual great sound.

Other: Obviously the above comments are subjective, and have to relate to my instrument. Because I have also changed the strength of my Larsen G and D, this may affect the C adversely.

Wise choice
2 out of 2 found the following review helpful

Pros: Very "chunky" Strong big sound. Very easy to get the string going -- the pick-up is fantastic. String feels very "soft"

Cons: To start of it had a thin metallic quality to the sound which is gradually playing out (as expected.)
