Description
Alphayue strings are the perfect upgrade for beginner instruments. A synthetic core string at a metal core price. Instant response and supple feel they will improve the sound of even the most basic instrument.
To check your instrument size measure the length of the back (LOB) excluding the 'button' which is the thumb shaped extension at the top where the neck is anchored. Old instruments can vary, if more than 1/2" over choose the next size up.

Keen Amateur
Super inexpensive A string for folk music
Pros: I bought this with its sister G string as inexpensive but good quality synthetic core strings for my outdoor knock about violin. I use this violin to play outdoors for the dance group I play for and I wanted some robust but good sounding strings that could carry. I had previously tried steel cores but the violin itself sounded a bit flat with them. These settled in quite quickly, about a couple of days of regular playing in. I am quietly impressed, will now just see how long they last. I think this could be an good alternative to Dominants which don't seem to suit any of my fiddles.
