Synthetic or metal cored, 2 playing lengths. The metal core A string benefits from our helix design which gives the metal core exceptional elasticity and results in a new level of sound quality.
The Steel core 'A' string features a unique coil design which changes to an almost invisible wave when in use and fully stabilised.
Made from a special alloy with a spiral design which increases the elasticity to produce a warm sound free of whistles and metallic overtones. (Manufacturer's description). Please visit manufacturer's website for more information on this design.
"The metal core A string benefits from our helix design which gives the metal core exceptional elasticity and results in a new level of sound quality. The synthetic core A string and the rest of the set uses our new W-Core® material."
Recommended for violas with a playing scale of 35-38cm which covers most violas of back length 15-16.5 inches
Keen Amateur
give the amber strings a try
Pros: I haven't put this string on the viola yet! But I can add that I am playing on a whole set of amber strings on a Don Tatem viola, and they are the best strings I ever had. They replaced a set of Larsen strings (also very good). They have a big, luminous sound, easy and responsive to play. I look forward to the new A, as it represents a new technology: I have a similar E on my violin. Dependable, good sound, does not whistle.
Cons: Took a long time to stabilise.
Other: I had to pay extra customs when the products entered the EU. That is to be expected, but what was not expected: the post company in Denmark clapped an extra "administrative charge" on to the postage, so we ended with a very expensive string.
