Description
Universally popular violin shoulder rest. Curved shape, height adjustable on both sides from 0.5cm to 8cm. The first choice of many players for over 40 years. Wide variation in fit from flexible base plate, compound leg bolt for maximum height adjustment. Folding legs. Supplied with 2 x extension barrels for extra height and rubberised tip to the extension bar for added protection of your instrument.
1/2 & 1/4 Violin 'Standard' model : this cheaper option provides the same popular shoulder rest but without the adjustable, screw legs.

Pros: I always buy this brand and I highly recommend it to all my pupils. It is adjustable on many different levels - height (it also has extension supports if you want it even higher), width, angle and shape. As it is metal, it can be bent to fit the shoulder if desired, and it is slightly flexible anyway so is always comfortable to use. The foam gives support but is soft enough to cushion all the edges. It is easy to adjust between each size. It suits all needs, is very durable, and gives the best amount of support and flexibility. Replacement parts are easily obtainable - not that you'll need them anytime soon.
Cons: The only slight disadvantage I can think of is that it can be a little bit high for someone with a very short neck, but I find this to be very rare.

Pros: It's the only shoulder rest I've tried that gives me the angle I like for playing. There's considerable height possible on the right-hand arm of the rest. The rubber-covered claws grip the violin firmly as well.
Cons: The only slight drawback to the design is that the actual rest can swivel on the arms and there's no real way of tightening it so that the same angle is maintained constantly.

Pros: Able to adjust width as well as height which you can't for the forte primo. Also able to bend it slightly to fit around the shoulder/collar bone.
Cons: The width arm can catch on the back of the violin and scratch it if you aren't careful. Occasionally the feet can slip, so double check you put it on properly.
Other: My daughter started off with a kun, but has now changed to the wolf now she is older.

Pros: This is the best rest you can buy. They last 2 or 3 sizes of violin, have fully adjustable feet height and angle to your shoulder. Many other makes pupils have tried, don't adjust and fall apart. It's worth paying the price of these.

Other: I have been teaching for 25+ years and found these the best rest.

Pros: Easy to use and simple to adjust. Many modern rests have integrated 'feet' which is good for most instruments but does not grip well enough for older instruments with a narrow lip. The Secondo with its chubby feet overcomes this and grips securely.
Cons: Not the most elegant. Otherwise, none
